The Place: Nationals Stadium
Why live here: Because you love sports and want to feed off the energy of the crowd from April – October. You love the idea of going to games without having to schlep on the Metro afterwards. Or maybe you just have an affinity for life-sized bobbleheads.
Things to know: Nats stadium is one of the best around. Until this month when the new Mystics home and Wizards practice facility Entertainment & Sports Arena and DC United’s Audi Field opened, it was the newest major sporting venue opened since 1997. It turned 10 years old last year and rarely disappoints due to its proximity to the Waterfront, views of the DC monuments, and offers more ways to stuff your face than peanuts and crackerjacks, Some of my favorites include Ben’s Chili Bowl, Shake Shack, and District Doughnuts.
Inspiration for the ballpark was taken from the East Wing of the National Gallery of Art by notable architect I.M. Pei who also designed L’Enfant Plaza and Town Center Towers in Southwest DC and the Louvre’s iconic pyramid among many others… Also it is the first LEED-certified green major professional sports stadium in the United States.
